CHAPTER 2
Panacea disappears unto the swarming cloud of the chaotic battlefield. Down below, now, you cannot spot him nor distinguish him from the assailing horde.
"Let us go. We move not through the white road this time, but walk upon Wesskin."
"I have heard of that. Are you sure of this...Leaving this fortress behind?"
"What will you do?"
"I expected you to answer that. After all, you seem to give me some importance"
"Your importance; that is not an opinion that is solely mine to give, but here I am to uphold it nonetheless. I will say, that up until this point I have not been honest, and I will perhaps share this because I fear for you. Because of your survival at the northern frontier, a conception most cruel, yes, your entire journey from east to west to north, has been methodically designed"
"Then who has conceived of this? The mercenary-liege? Designed? How can someone design something like that?"
"Because, from what I understood, that it was not a person that designed the path you took, but something akin to a force or animal."
"Why? An animal, like a wolf? Death is after me, so it is guiding my hand to meet it?"
"I'm not sure, that is what I have been told. And that is why I must take you to the capital, for an important sage has told me that you must be there, else everything will go awry."
"Sage...a man told me that I should've gone to Olabach, a sage in the Asylum."
"You have put your trust in me thus far, and now you must trust me once more; forget that sage, he lives in the madhouse, does he not? Listen. Now we will go through the road of Wormachy unto Wesskin and follow a greatways west until the see the great arching jaws; and we shall pass the Teeth of Baghum-Modocan that watch over the Bronze Gates of Modoc. But we will not enter the city, for the tower perches upon the hill of Aquineas and touches the ceiling. There, we shall meet the Lord of Law and the Sage, and you will speak to them and listen.
