CHAPTER 1
You jump! You land with a soft thud...You raise your head and look around...
Where are the rest of them?
You hear a piercing noise; the wind whistles sharply, heading from the open window above. You hear the snapping of bones, of shattering glass and of burning screams!
A sudden gust of wind blows the glass unto the water below and unto obscurity; the reeds that addorn the meadow lakes tremble, shiver and creak.
You see it now, from out of the piercing darkness - two eyes of flame! And they ravage your soul as you meet them you feel. And from out of the darkness peers a penumbra, a visage of a darker cloak! Aye and it brings forth that terrible blade from below the billowy smoking clawing shape! The black char of searing steel!
It jumps out of the window and like a king it orders all things to stay silent and obey. The world now has fled! The dust, the water, the smoky reeds and the diminutive animals, they are all servants of this thing, for this moment is it's moment of war! And it rises and it is blackened and grey; it is a shape like billowing smoke hidden beneath a shade of cloak. But you see the bony white hands grasp at your presence, and you see them grip at the terrible blade!
It lunges at you! It's face you see for a mere moment, twisted unto a terrible shape! And it screams! Aye it does and it is inhuman; and that sword, it reeks! It's like a piece of coal seared to the upmost heat! It's weapon high, cutting the air with cruelty!
It brings it down unto the soft earth but you dodge backwards! You pummel it, and it reels back. Now you see it, for the hood that covered it's head to the fullest extent is now dangling, you see it: the thing is a skeleton of a man!
That scream! It's in pain! What is this scream? Gods!
You strike at it again but it does not give. It stumbles backwards but brings the full might of the blade behind it's shoulder; it cleaves! The blade brought down, tears through your gut!
You fall down...The thing stomps your chest, the blade pinpointed at your heart...What is that? A green snake curls around your fingers...
Lunge's body...So he is dead...
The black knight lift the blade...and you hurl the snake at it like a javelin! It reels back, slashing at it, but it cannot get it off! You get up and lunge at the thing, and you strike it down; so much that after a few strike, the skull cracks from a stomp, and black fluid pours out. It blurts some nonsense, some black speech as it dies. You leave.
"Time will get you soon enough. There are way too many shadows for you to count."
"Leave me!"
You bury the bodies of the fallen. You retrieve your axe from the broken building and whatever supplies you can manage.
